On our walk through Granada and just 1 minute from when you park your car in the Torres Neptuno Parking, through the pedestrian exit, Virgen Blanca street, you will find the Federico García Lorca Park, a place to rest and enjoy with the little ones.
Inside the park is the Huerta de San Vicente, a fundamental place in the artistic production of Federico García Lorca, a great poet from Granada. This house was the former family residence of the García Lorca family during the summer, acquired by their parents to spend a cooler summer next to the Vega.
In this house Lorca wrote some of his best works: Gypsy Ballads and the House of Bernalda Alba, among others. Among the different rooms that you can visit in this house Museum, original objects of the poet are exhibited, such as manuscripts, cuatros, drawings or furniture.
The entire park is organized around the Huerta de San Vicente, with an area of 71,500 m2. It has wide entrances with access ramps and several paths and walks that intersect, forming different areas. With native vegetation of the Vega of Granada, you can admire beautiful olive trees, poplars, cypresses, redwoods and other species. A park to enjoy a beautiful walk through beautiful gardens, highlighting the riverside forest and the rosaldeda.
If something is present throughout the park, it is water, several ditches run through it and are occupied by river fish. The pond is home to ducks and geese that delight the little ones. It also has ornamental fountains such as the Cybernetic Fountain, the Labyrinth Fountain or the ten small dice fountains.
It also has a children’s area, a kiosk-bar, toilets, drinking fountains, a petanque court, a toy library and even a plant hospital.
